On Saturday, "Saturday Night Live" host and musical guest Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) released a video for a new song called "This is America."

Glover is an actor who also raps under the name Childish Gambino. His newest film is the Star Wars adventure "Solo," opening May 25.

The video appears all at once to be a criticism of gun violence, a call to party, and a surreal collection of images, from a gospel choir to school children, then a horse that randomly runs by. Sample lyrics: “I know you wanna party/ Party just for me/ Girl, you got me dancin’/ Dancin’ free”...“This is America/ Police be trippin’ now/ Yeah, this is America/ Guns in my area."

Filmed in a large warehouse, the video features a shirtless Glover dancing and then randomly shooting and killing people, from a hooded figure to the aforementioned choir.

Its director, Hiro Murai, has worked with Donald Glover before on his TV show "Atlanta" and other Childish Gambino music videos.

Childish Gambino won a 2016 Grammy award for his album "Awaken, My Love!"
