Actress-turned-activists Alyssa Milano showed up to an immigration detention center in Florida in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes and demanded to be let in for a “community visit” to examine the facility’s conditions.
And it went about as well as you’d expect – well, unless you’re an elitist progressive who thinks you run the world, of course.
In a series of videos live-streamed on Twitter, Milano complained that she and a small group of protesters showed up to Homestead, a privately-run border detention facility in Florida that currently holds more than 2,000 unaccompanied alien children between 13 and 17 who crossed the border illegally.
Despite demanding she be let in simply because she’s Alyssa Milano, immigration officials denied her entry into the building.
“I just asked to be let in to the Homestead detention center based on a community visit,” Milano says in one video, apparently thinking just anyone can show up to a government-run border facility full of minors and be allowed in.
In the nearly 8-minute-long video, Milano questions security guards on why they won’t simply allow her group into the building, even as he tries to explain that any visits to the facility must be pre-scheduled and cleared by management.

After being turned away yet again, Milano filmed another video from the backseat of her luxury sedan, saying facility officials gave her a media request card and told her to pre-schedule an appointment at least two weeks in advance.
"Of course in that two weeks they have the time to clean up the place. I thought it was important that they just let me in," she said.
