You would think that maybe, just maybe, criminals might think twice about shooting people because of Easter and what it means. But, no. Instead, all of the people who were murdered over the weekend in the city of Chicago were killed on Easter Sunday. And still, no one seems to care.

At least seven people were killed and another 27 were wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area over the weekend. As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, all of the victims that died from their wounds were killed within a 24-hour period. This past weekend saw at least three more people killed than during the previous weekend, which saw at least four people shot to death and another 32 wounded.

Here are the names and ages of those who were shot and killed over the weekend:

Unidentified Male, 45

Derrick Triplett, 31

Jakub Marchewka, 28

Dashawn Norman, 25

Brian Guerrero, 28

Octavius Mitchell, 38

Elijah Mena, 19

As for the year-to-date totals for Chicago weekend shootings, 64 people have been murdered and another 307 have been wounded in Chicago in 2021. The Chicago Tribune, which keeps a tracker of all shooting victims in Chicago, is reporting that — as of March 31 — 703 people have been shot this year. That number is 184 more than at the same point in 2020, which saw the second most shooting victims in the last 10 years of tracking data.
