Activist Tommy Robinson Pleads To President Trump For Asylum While Awaiting Jail Sentence in U.K.

They jailed him once, now they’re going to jail him again. Controversial British activist Tommy Robinson made an impassioned asylum plea to President Donald Trump on Tuesday ahead of his sentencing hearing scheduled for Thursday at Central Criminal Court in London, also known as The Old Bailey.

Robinson was convicted of contempt of court last Friday for a 2018 Facebook Live video in which he covered a sexual grooming gang trial.

Robinson appeared on the banned-from pretty-much-every-social-media-platform InfoWars Tuesday and was given a forum to send a direct plea to Trump concerning his possibly gaining asylum in the U.S.

“President Trump, the American government, Britain has fallen,” Robinson began his plea. “I’m an English man, a British citizen who loves my country, and it hurts me to have to say, I have no future here.”

You can watch Robinson’s asylum plea below:

Robinson was sentenced to 13 months in jail in May 2018, the same day he was arrested, for attempting to report on a court case concerning Islamic "grooming gangs." The judge put a gag order on the British press from talking about Robinson's case before lifting the order.

The anti-radical Islam activist was allowed to walk free on bail in October 2018 after returning to court following a two-and-a-half month stint in jail.

Robinson has received severe backlash and criticism from pretty much every major British news outlet since he came into public consciousness as the former co-founder of the English Defence League (EDL). In 2013, Robinson left the group once he saw that certain members of the group were steering the EDL into the waters of “far-right extremism.”
