Pro-life students with Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, Washington state who were rallying and praying against abortion on campus Saturday as part of this year’s annual 40 Days for Life campaign say they were subjected to all kinds of obscene gestures and profanity, had glass thrown at them, and even had an abortion supporter scream “Hail Satan!” as she drove by the group.

One demonstrator began videoing her encounter with the driver, who pulled up alongside the group and began advocating for “Satan, the dark lord.”

“What did you say?” the pro-life demonstrator asked as she began filming.

“Satan is the one true lord. Satan, the dark lord,” the woman responded.

“You have a sweet baby back there,” one person pointed out, referring to the baby in the backseat of the woman’s car.

“Oh yeah, I didn’t abort her. I kept her.”

“That’s good! We’re just out here praying and trying to support the community,” the woman behind the cell phone explained.

“We don’t need your prayers. Hail Satan!” the woman hollered before speeding away.

Students For Life reports that during the same demonstration Saturday, the group of pro-lifers were subjected to all kinds of abuse. According to Autumn Lindsey, a student spokesperson for Students for Life, a man masturbated in a car towards the group while his friend drove by. Another threw glass at the demonstrators as they prayed, while another got in one of the students’ faces, calling him a “c*cksucker.”

“This kind of intimidation causes some our volunteers to feel uneasy to sign up to pray for mothers and preborn children during a 40 Days for Life event,” Lindsey said in a statement. “We are only 11 days in, and we have already been bullied and threatened to the point where our volunteers are nervous to go alone."

Nevertheless, Lindsey said she and her fellow pro-lifers won't be bullied into silence.

"We will not back down because this just demonstrates how evil the abortion industry is. We will stand united together and not let the bullies stop us even though the violence of abortion is celebrated by increasingly violent people," she said.
