Police officers and fast-food chains don’t seem to mix as of late and a Clovis, New Mexico Burger King is the most recent to showcase this point.
Officer Timo Rosenthal last week ordered food from the Clovis Burger King, while in uniform, and said the employees made sure to let him know he was not welcome there. After receiving his food, Rosenthal said he noticed a drawing of a pig on his burger wrapper, according to KRQE-TV.
He posted the image on his Facebook page with the caption, "When you order food in uniform."
“Well, while on lunch break (and in uniform) I ordered food at Burger King and received this [drawing of a pig],” Rosenthal posted. “The patties were burnt and the burger was of very poor quality. Guess that was the last time I ate at Burger King in Clovis, NM.”
After learning about the incident the Burger King franchise quickly apologized to the officer and took swift action, firing the five employees involved.
In a statement to Fox News, Burger King spokesman stated:
What occurred is unacceptable and not in line with our brand values. When made aware of the incident, the restaurant owner immediately reached out to the officer involved to apologize and terminated the team members involved.
The restaurant is offering free meals to uniformed officers and will provide a catered lunch to the police department as a gesture of goodwill.
Understandably, despite the apology Rosenthal isn’t intent on going back, he says.
