2 Killed, 17 Wounded: 6-Month-Old Baby Boy Among Weekend's Wounded in Chicago

A 6-month-old baby boy was was one of the wounded in the city of Chicago during one of the shootings that occurred over the weekend. Let that sink in. A six…month…old…baby…boy. Look, if the people in charge of the city — and yes, I’m looking at the mayor who’s too busy helping illegal immigrants avoid laws they've already broken — want to blame surrounding states for the influx of illegal firearms in Chicago, then why don’t those states or cities have a constant gun violence problem?

In terms of recent history, two people being killed with another 17 wounded is a sharp drop in weekend shootings across the Chicagoland area. But, like the far-left always likes to preach to law-abiding gun owners after any mass shooting, ‘One person being shot is too much.’

Too bad those same people don’t care when the shootings are constant and doesn’t feed their narrative.

Here’s an example of this past weekend’s violence, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:

Among the wounded is a 6-month-old boy who was hurt in the weekend’s earliest reported shooting Friday in South Shore.

The infant and two men, 28 and 65, were on a sidewalk about 5:20 p.m. in the 1900 block of East 71st Street when someone unleashed gunfire, Chicago police said.

A bullet grazed the infant in the leg, and he was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition, police said. The younger man was hit in the knee and chest, while the older man was struck in the foot. Both were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

MRCTV has been tracking weekend shootings in Chicago since Memorial Day weekend. Including this most recent weekend’s events, 749 people have been shot on weekends in total since Memorial Day weekend. That number includes the 104 people who have been killed as a result of their wounds.

The Chicago Tribune updated their year-in-total numbers through September 29th. While they report that this year’s shootings are down 190 from this point last year, an astounding 2,101 people have been shot in total in 2019. Not really something to brag about.

Those at the Chicago Police Department (CPD) can only do so much. But, when the mayor is openly advocating for people to continue to break the law, it’s time to place the blame at the top. It just goes to show that it didn’t matter whether former mayor Rahm Emanuel was in charge or the current mayor Lori Lightfoot is in charge. We’re still getting the same results. Sounds like the definition of insanity to me.
