On All In with Chris Hayes Tuesday night, Hayes and a panel of guests discussed Democratic candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and concluded that, in the end, her specific socialist policies don’t matter. The media are desperate to lend support to congressional Democrats in their frenzied opposition to the appointment of Brett Kavanaugh, an otherwise qualified jurist, to the Supreme Court. On MSNBC’s All In Tuesday night, and then again on CNN’s New Day Wednesday morning, Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut repeated his claims that the current moment is comparable to 9/11. Each time, the hosts failed to ask him to clarify or add nuance to his extreme statement.

Justice Kennedy announced his retirement Wednesday, and the ramifications sent the media into a frenzy over all things Supreme Court. On MSNBC Live with Katy Tury, stand-in host Steve Kornacki did not speculate on the best replacement for Kennedy but instead asked four different guests about the possibility of Republicans failing to confirm President Trump’s nominee to the high court.

Over the weekend, MSNBC repeatedly failed to condemn the removal of Sarah Huckabee Sanders from a Virginia restaurant because of her political affiliation. The story received only minutes of coverage, often being squeezed into the last moments of a program in favor of wall-to-wall coverage of the immigration crisis, but the tacit approval of the removal was remarkable.
