The broadcast networks have barely touched the Hunter Biden scandals and questions about his father’s role in his receipt of millions from foreign interests, yet on Sunday’s Face  the Nation, CBS’s Margaret Brennan suggested it’s time for Republicans to “move on” from the misdeeds of the president’s son. Interviewing Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie, Brennan cited a plea deal for…

There’s only one candidate for president who can legitimately command public support, that’s the one in the Democratic Party, of course, regular Morning Joe on MSNBC guest Jon Meacham, once the editor of Newsweek and now touted as a “Pulitzer Prize-winning historian,” contended on Friday. Meacham categorized all the Republicans as illegitimate: “We can choose a constitutionalist, a party that has…

CNN This Morning on Monday devoted a segment to decrying how those in red states are “imposing” their values on the rest of the nation. Not considered by the panel: How those in red states see themselves as simply pushing back at the imposition of left-wing LGBTQ “pride” values, values which CNN euphemistically described as “inclusion.” CNN senior political analyst Ron Brownstein lamented: “In…

Apparently, the CNN show starring Charles Barkley and Gayle King is still a go for this fall, but Barkley recognizes agreeing to it may not have been a great career move. On Saturday night’s Stanley Cup pre-game show, he quipped: “Apparently with this new talk show, I’m jumping on the Titanic... everybody keeps saying ‘abort,’ ‘abort,’ ‘abort.!’” He quickly pivoted to the more appropriate public…

In announcing on Sunday his impending departure from Meet the Press, Chuck Todd insisted that during his nine years as host of the program, “we didn’t tolerate propagandists and this network and program never will.” He portrayed criticisms of his bias, not as complaints to address and correct, but as badges of honor: “I take the attacks from partisans as compliments, and I take the compliments…

NBC’s Chuck Todd, hosting Meet the Press, on Sunday took on the Republican plan to roll back the Biden administration’s quest to hire thousands of additional IRS agents. “I have never understood the resistance of extra IRA agents, unless you knowingly cheat on your taxes.” His guest, Republican Congressman Byron Donalds of Florida rejected the premise: “That’s salacious and you know that.” >…

Washington Post editor at large and columnist Robert Kagan, on Friday, warned the United States could end as a nation if Donald Trump loses the 2024 election but his supporters think he really won. “He’s going to make it clear to his supporters that if he loses, it can only be as a result of fraud,” Kagan predicted in an interview on Washington Post Live’s weekly First Look show. Then, he…

On Sunday’s Meet the Press, moderator Chuck Todd cued up Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, to champion President Biden as fully fit for re-election. Todd: “Is he up for a second term?” Mayorkas maintained: “A hundred percent. Incredibly sharp, incredibly probing, incredible command of the details, probing on the details.” Todd’s not so tough follow-up: “You have full confidence…

In a surreal moment on Sunday’s This Week on ABC, Jane Coaston chastised Republicans for supporting state efforts to limit abortion as she contended Republicans are the busy-bodies telling people what to do while Democrats believe in leaving people alone: “I think the most important political priority for any political party is to not be the people telling people what to do.”  Coaston, former…

Spurred by Republicans in the Tennessee House voting to expel two Democrats who violated House rules with a disruptive protest on the floor of the chamber, Jon Meacham went on MSNBC on Monday morning to denounce the supposed “anti-democratic” moves which he attributed to Donald Trump’s nefarious influence on Republicans. “It’s a reminder that what Trump has represented, which is this showmanship…
