Former Trump spokeswoman Kellyanne Conway fired back at Joe Biden’s claim that Conway had said violence in the streets was “better for us,” saying simply, “you lied.”

During Tuesday’s presidential debate, Biden misquoted Conway as having said that "riots and chaos and violence help [Trump's] cause."

“And by the way, you know, his own former spokesperson said, ‘You know, riots and chaos and violence help his cause.’ That’s what this is all about,” Biden said.

When Trump asked where he'd gotten that alleged quote, Biden stumbled for a moment before attributing it to Conway.

Except that’s not what Conway had said. Biden’s reference was lifted out of context – and erroneously, at that – from a Fox News interview back in August, during which Conway pointed out that leftwing violence from Antifa and Black Lives Matter only underscored the choice between the Democrat Party, which has praised both groups and given cash to bail out violent protesters, and Trump, who has repeatedly offered to send in the National Guard to help protect citizens and businesses from the chaos.

“I also noticed there was a quote today from a restaurateur in Wisconsin saying, ‘are you protesters trying to get Donald Trump re-elected?’ He knows full stop and I guess Mayor Pete knows full stop that the more chaos and anarchy and vandalism and violence reigns, the better it is for the very clear choice on whose best on public safety,” Conway said at the time.

“I was in Fort McHenry last night when Vice President Pence gave his impassioned plea and one of his biggest applause lines in that audience, standing ovation, is when he talks about the thin blue line,” she continued. “He talks about how we would never defund the police. We have more generously resourced and we’re deeply respected, our military veterans, our police, our border protection and other law enforcement officers keeping us safe.”

Conway blasted Biden on Twitter after he suggested that she’d openly promoted violence to help Trump’s campaign.
