If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

And if you still don’t succeed, keep trying until a pissed off manager finally chases you out of the jewelry store you’re trying to rob.

It seems some retail establishments are wising up to the shocking trend of smash-and-grab burglaries that have become all-too-common in cities across America, in which bold looters simply walk, often bare-faced and unashamed, into stores in broad daylight, lift loads of perch, and make off like…well, bandits.

Which is exactly what one would-be shoplifter probably thought would be his story when he walked up to one store's jewelry display and started trying to smash through the glass case with a rock. The problem? It didn’t work.

Seconds after the thief abandoned his failed attempt at grand larceny, a woman carrying what looks to be a pole of some kind can be seen chasing after him and out of the camera’s line of sight. One can only hope she and her metal switch caught up to him.

In a world in which shoplifters often get away with their crimes in cities too busy defunding their police departments to care about their citizens, it’s nice to see a good guy get a win - even if it doesn’t happen often enough.
