Wife of 'American Sniper' Hero Endorses Candidate

The widow of the subject of the blockbuster hit, "American Sniper" has endorsed former Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas) for the Republican nominee for president.

Taya Kyle has mostly stayed out the spotlight, given the amount of press coverage that "American Sniper" received for its record blockbuster numbers, but she recently announced that she will speak at an upcoming event where Gov. Perry will announce his plans for 2016.

In a statement through RickPAC, the political action committee that has supported Perry's potential run for president, Kyle said, "I tend to keep my political opinions to myself -- the only candidate I ever endorsed was in a race for county sheriff -- but this is different... I'll proudly stand with one of the great leaders this state and country have ever produced: Rick Perry."

She explains saying, "My husband may have been in the military, but no one tells me which leader to follow... That's why I'll be there in person as Rick and Anita Perry discuss their future and his vision for America."

Kyle's late husband, Chris Kyle, who has the most documented kills in United States military history, wrote the bestseller, "American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History," in 2012. The film, "American Sniper," was released in 2013 after Kyle was shot and killed in early 2013.

Kyle was trying to help rehabilitate another veteran, but was shot and killed by the veteran. The veteran was found guilty in the deaths of Kyle and another person.
