‘This is Why People Hate Democrats!’ Maher Condemns Cancel Culture for ‘Bullying’ People Using Race

HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” host Bill Maher slammed Democrats after the woke mob targeted the movie “In the Heights” —  for the crime of not having “Afro-Latinx” people represented in the movie.

Released earlier this month, the film is an adaptation of Lin-Manual Miranda’s Broadway musical about the New York City neighborhood Washington Heights, which features a predominantly Latino cast.

While the movie’s cast was comprised of both blacks and Latinos, some have criticized Miranda for not including” dark-skinned Afro-Latinx performers” in major roles, according to Vulture.

The manufactured cries against the film’s “colorism” were enough for Maher to call out woke progressives and Democrats.

“This is why people hate Democrats,” Maher said during the segment. “It’s cringey.”

Even though the film received 96 percent critic score and equally great reviews from the public on Rotten Tomatoes, Miranda still felt the need to apologize to the mob.

“I hear that without sufficient dark-skinned Afro-Latino representation, the work feels extractive of the community we wanted so much to represent with pride and joy,” Miranda said in a statement, according to Fox News. “In trying to paint a mosaic of this community, we fell short. I’m truly sorry. I’m learning from the feedback, I thank you for raising it, and I’m listening. I promise to do better in my future projects.”

Miranda, the playwright behind the “Hamilton” Broadway musical hit, which “made the founding fathers black and Hispanic” according to Maher, made the mistake of bowing to the mob. Though Maher did not see a need for an apology from Miranda, he said he understood why he felt the need to avoid the target on his back from the woke progressives.

He [Miranda] just wants to avoid the news cycle. I don’t blame him. You know, I understand this. But, at some point, people are going to have to stand up to these bullies, cause that’s what it is. It’s just bullying. It’s ‘I can make you crawl like a dog, and I enjoy it.’ I mean, he’s a Latino making a Latino movie with a Latino cast…not good enough! Nothing is ever good enough for these people [the woke mob].
