CW To Launch Lesbian, Social Justice-Themed 'Batwoman'

The Hollywood Communistic Cult obviously have no problem injecting the poison that is identity politics into their television programming. When I hear that a show’s main character has a passion for social justice” while being openly lesbian, my hand doesn’t even reach for the remote that turns my TV on.

The CW network is partnering with DC Comics in order to bring you a new TV series, “Batwoman.” Which sounds awesome -- until you find out some of the details about the title character.

According to the Hollywood Reporter:

Batwoman revolves around Kate Kane, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence. But don't call her a hero yet: in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham's symbol of hope.

Don’t worry. You have no fear of me ever calling this forced “social justice” character a “hero.”

There’s nothing wrong with a character being gay, straight, black, white, Christian or Muslim. It’s when that identifier becomes all the character is about that turns my TV off. When writers and producers push their social justice BS down all of our throats — when I simply want a good story to be entertained by — it makes a lot of people hesitant to even give that program a try.

For comic book geeks, the news that “Batwoman” will be in live-action form for the first time ever should be reason enough to rejoice. But — much like one of the CW’s other DC Comics shows “Supergirl” — fans will tune out when they get sick of being preached to instead of entertained.

Once Supergirl moved from CBS to the CW — and began inserting more social justice themes — viewership seriously dipped from the season one finale viewership of 6.11 million viewers to the season three finale viewership of 1.78 million, according to TV ratings tracking website TV by the Numbers.

The ironic part is that the producer and writer of “Supergirl,” Greg Berlanti, is the same guy who’s in charge of “Batwoman.” To be fair, Berlanti is also the creator of halfway decent shows like “Arrow” and “The Flash.”

Who knows what the future might hold for social justice, lesbian “Batwoman” Barbie? One thing I do know is that when I hear the term “social justice” in the description of the show, I — along with many others — tune out.

Stick to what works. Superheroes being superheroes — kicking criminal ass and taking names.
