The first summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will officially take place on July 16 in Helsinki, Finland, the White House announced Thursday morning.

As Monica Sanchez of MRCTV reported Wednesday, U.S. national security adviser John Bolton, under the direction of President Trump, met with President Putin in Moscow on Wednesday to hash out the details on a possible summit.

The two world leaders informally met last year during the G-20 summit in Germany.

Trump will likely look to press Putin on his country’s involvement in Syria and Ukraine, as well as interference in the 2016 presidential election, which according to former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, was discussed in the 2017 G-20 meeting between the two leaders.

Prior to the July summit, Trump is scheduled to attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in Brussels and to visit the U.K.
