WH Keeping International COVID Travel Restrictions While Illegal Aliens Flood Border

While the Biden administration’s concern for the delta variant will keep international travel restrictions in place, the concern does not extend to the surge of illegal immigrants crossing the United States-Mexico border.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced Monday that the U.S. will keep the international travel ban in place due to the coronavirus’ delta variant causing an increase in cases both at home and abroad.

Banning entry from the U.K., China, India, among many others, the current travel restrictions were put in place in March 2020 and reinstated by President Joe Biden, according to USA Today.

“With the delta variant, we will maintain the existing travel restrictions at this point for a few reasons,” Psaki said at the press briefing. “The more transmissible Delta variant is spreading both here and around the world. Driven by the Delta variant, cases are rising here at home, particularly among those who are unvaccinated and appear likely to continue in the weeks ahead.”

Despite the upholding of restrictions on international travel to stop the spread of the delta variant, June hit a multi-decade high for border encounters — now totaling over 1 million for fiscal year 2021.

As reported by The Federalist, the amount of COVID-positive migrants in the Rio Grande Valley held by the U.S. has surged 900 percent above the previous 14 months of the pandemic.

If the White House cared as much about the spread of the virus as they say they do, the southern border would a priority for Biden.

While the administration seeks to minimize legal travel, illegal travel to the U.S. runs rampant at the border — indicating one thing: they do not care about the virus, they care about control.
