During the White House press briefing on Friday, spokesman Josh Earnest looked quite pleased about Donald Trump’s choice of running mate, Gov. Mike Pence (R-Ind.).

When asked about Trump’s vice presidential pick, Earnest responded with a smirk, “You mean the TPP supporting, Medicaid expanding Mike Pence?”

“Uh, no, I don’t have any comment on him,” he said, laughing.

There have been mixed reactions regarding Gov. Pence as Trump's running mate.

Many like former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich have praised Pence as an experienced politician and a potential “stabilizing force” for those still “jittery” about the party’s presidential nominee.

Others worry whether Pence’s views on trade and his expansion of Medicaid in his state of Indiana will pose an issue in the upcoming election.
