A police officer in Fort Bend County, Texas got an unexpected – and very unwelcome – surprise for Christmas when his home and car caught fire after someone threw Molotov cocktails at his property on two separate incidents.

According to the Houston Chronicle, investigators determined someone threw an incendiary device at one of the front windows of the sergeant’s home last Monday night at around 9:30 p.m., causing part of the house to go up in flames. Fortunately, the homemade bomb didn't go through the window, which led to a bedroom where a person was sleeping.

Then, on Sunday afternoon, a second barrage of Molotov cocktails was thrown into a car on the same property, lighting the entire thing on fire. In that incident, security footage revealed a dark-colored, four-door Ford F-250 pickup truck drive up to the house. At least one person wearing blue jeans, white shoes and a baseball cap could be seen leaving the vehicle, then driving away just before the car caught fire, the Chronicle reported.

“This is a dangerous game people are playing,” Fort Bend Sheriff Troy Nehls said. “It’s scary. It’s sad and we’re on top of this investigation.”

The police department said they haven’t arrested anyone yet, but are looking into homicide and robbery cases the sergeant had worked on to identify any potential leads.
