Campus Reform’s Cabot Phillips along with Mike Aye hit the streets once more and ended up at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Students were questioned on the fairness of certain states offering illegal immigrant students access to in-state college tuition.

In-state tuition is usually only offered to U.S. citizens who are residents of said state, so you can imagine the responses from these students.

“There are 18 states in America where in-state tuition is automatically offered to students who are here illegally. Is that surprising?” Phillips asked.

“Really? That’s a bunch of states,” one student said after agreeing it wasn’t fair. “And they’re not even citizens? So what’s the point?”

“Why do you get for living here all your life legally instead of coming in here illegally?” another responded. “I don’t think that’s fair.”

As Campus Reform reports:

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 18 states --- California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington --- offer in-state tuition to illegal immigrant students. Two more states --- Oklahoma and Rhode Island --- offer in-state tuition to illegal immigrant students, pending approval from the Board of Regents.

Illegals getting better college benefits than American citizens? These liberal policies sure are backwards.

“I couldn’t go to those states and pay ‘in-state,’” a student said. “I feel like it should be equal for everyone, if that’s going to be the rule.”
