When an armed robber tried to hold up a fast food restaurant at gun point, he got a little more than he’d signed up for – in the form of two off-duty police officers who happened to be sitting in a nearby booth.

It all started when a masked man walked into a Raising Cain’s Chicken Fingers joint in Louisville, Kentucky, at approximately 10 p.m. on Feb. 15, wielding a gun and demanding the cashier behind the counter hand over the money.

Unfortunately for the thief, police officer Nicole McKeown and her husband, Detective Chase McKeown, were on a date night and sharing a meal just a few feet away. Both officers can be seen on store surveillance footage slowly assessing the situation and drawing their weapons before confronting the armed man, who dropped his gun and beat feet out the door.

The pair then chased the suspect, who authorities later determined is a man named Justin Carte,to a nearby street and managed to apprehend him. Carter, already a convicted felon, has been charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property, and robbery, according to a local ABC affiliate.
