Four Miami-Dade police officers put their lives on the line on Friday to save a man from a burning car.

Body camera footage shows the early morning rescue as the four officers worked together to save 21-year-old Luis Carlos Aloma from his vehicle, burning on the side of Palmetto Expressway.

Just moments after the officers succeeded in pulling Aloma from his car, the flames completely overtook the vehicle.

Aloma made it out alive thanks to the officers’ heroics. He was transported from the scene to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

WSVN 7 News Miami reports that Aloma is expected to make a full recovery.

“This gentleman is going to be able to celebrate this Christmas with their family thanks to these officers who, instead of running away from danger, ran towards danger, did everything to get him out of the car,” said Florida Highway Patrol Officer Joe Sanchez.

The four brave officers were honored on Friday in a special ceremony attended by their fellow officers, Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez, and Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez.

The officers being haled as heroes stayed humble despite all of the praise, insisting they were just doing their job.

“Acting quickly is very paramount in situations like this,” said Officer Gepsy Perez.

“There were no questions asked -- just get to him," said Officer Joseph Vallejos.

“We got there on time," said Officer Edward Brochu. "No one else was injured, and it felt great."

“I tell myself every day, I wear this badge with pride, and I tell myself, ‘This is the best job in the world,'” said Officer Yovani Sosa.
