As he walked onto the lighted stage to present an award at the NAACP Image Awards on Friday, Chris Rock claimed he was instructed to avoid Jussie Smollett jokes. But then, what’s a comedian like Rock to do?
He totally ignored the instructions.

Rock proceeded to troll Smollett causing the audience to exhibit something we call “laughter.”
“I guess I gotta present an award,” the comedian started. “They said no Jussie Smollett jokes. Yeah, I know I know. What a waste of light skin. You know what I could do with that light skin? That curly hair? My career would be out of here… f***ing running Hollywood.”
The “Grown Ups” actor was jokingly referring to how Smollett was wasting the opportunities his lighter skin provides because it supposedly leads to an easier life.
"What the hell was he thinking?” he went on as the audience laughed. “From now on… you're Jessie from now on. You don't even get the ‘u’ no more. That ‘u’ was respect. You don’t get no respect from me.”
The crowd consisted of many celebrities, including actress Issa Rae and The Daily Show’s host, better known as Trevor Noah — who happened to be laughing with the utmost king of laughter.
Twitter was filled with mixed responses.

Never kick a person when they are down, your time will come and it won’t be funny then.

I say: I’m just glad Rock wasn’t scared to joke about the stupid thing that Smollett decided to do. He called him out on it, and that's quite alright.
