The widow of “American Sniper” Chris Kyle, Taya, introduced country music star Garth Brooks at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards last night.

Before she called Brooks onstage, Taya Kyle said: “I’m extremely grateful to all the first responders, the veterans, and their families, for all their sacrifices. And I hope their example continues to inspire service in hometowns all across this great country.”

An emotional Brooks sang “All-American Kid” while military members filed into the American-flag bedecked arena.

Brooks sang:

Three tours of duty
And a silver star
Brought him back home with his battle scars
He stepped off the plane
In his combat boots
He saluted the red, the white and blue

And the whole town cheered
And his mama cried
Another hometown boy
Made it home alive
Got his picture in the paper and the headline read "Welcome Back All-American Kid"

Brooks was honored with a Milestone Award for his legendary music career.
