So, it begins.

Eight border wall prototypes are under construction in San Diego, California.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that construction began Tuesday.

"We are committed to securing our border and that includes constructing border walls,” Ronald Vitiello, acting deputy commissioner, CBP said in a press release.

“Our multi-pronged strategy to ensure the safety and security of the American people includes barriers, infrastructure, technology and people. Moving forward with the prototypes enables us to continue to incorporate all the tools necessary to secure our border."

All prototypes will be between 18-30 feet high. Four are to be made of concrete, four more are being made of “other materials.”
