Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden quoted Mao Tse-tung during a Monday evening campaign event, but it’s not the first time Biden has quoted the Chinese communist dictator.
The Washington Examiner reports that Biden said the Chinese phrase, "Women hold up half the sky."
The phrase comes from a proclamation by Mao in the mid-20th century. The phrase became commonplace in China at the time, often appearing on pieces of propaganda in factories or other industrial areas.
It seems Biden may have been quoting the communist dictator longer than originally thought, however as video has surfaced of Biden making the same statement at the Glamour ‘Women Of The Year’ summit in November of 2017.
“You guys are going to change the culture here. We're on the cusp of fundamentally changing the culture. Women hold up half the sky,” Biden said.
