The Washington Post published an article Friday titled, “Why can’t we hate men?” The article, written by Suzanna Danuta Walters, a professor of sociology and director of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Northeastern University, essentially argues that men must have each and every one of their actions approved by feminists.

The last paragraph is rather daunting:

So men, if you really are #WithUs and would like us to not hate you for all the millennia of woe you have produced and benefited from, start with this: Lean out so we can actually just stand up without being beaten down. Pledge to vote for feminist women only. Don’t run for office. Don’t be in charge of anything. Step away from the power. We got this. And please know that your crocodile tears won’t be wiped away by us anymore. We have every right to hate you. You have done us wrong. #BecausePatriarchy. It is long past time to play hard for Team Feminism. And win.

Walters’ piece is a perfect example of where feminism goes wrong. To her, it isn’t about actual equality. It’s about vengeance — a result of hatred, which the author is openly advocating for. Walters, along with many other third-wave-feminists, have allowed the horrid actions of specific men to speak for all men.

Let’s switch up one word in the title and see the effect: “Why can’t we hate immigrants?” How about, “Why can’t we hate Muslims?” or “Why can’t we hate Mexicans?”

Using Walters’ logic, we should be able to hate these groups because certain people within them have persecuted innocents. But using actual logic, all of these titles are textbook bigotry.

The Washington Post should be embarrassed to have published such nonsense. Until feminists let go of their anger and start an actual conversation, their movement will be considered a joke.
