1,000 Georgians illegally voted twice in the state’s primary in June, according to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

On Tuesday, Raffensperger held a press conference discussing the state’s investigation into voters submitting absentee ballots but going to vote in person.

“A double voter knows exactly what they’re doing, diluting the votes of each and every voter that follows the law,” Raffensperger said. "Those that make the choice to game the system are breaking the law. And as secretary of state, I will not tolerate it.”

“I am working with every county to assure that double voting doesn't happen in November. There are those that want to try and game the system and that can't happen,” Raffensperger later added.

Double voting is a felony punishable by 1 to 10 years in prison and up to a $100,000 fine.

“We will prosecute,” Raffensperger said.

“The voters knew what they were doing.”
