Coronavirus be damned, apparently. Just because there’s a worldwide pandemic going on, that doesn’t mean the criminals in Chicago don’t have time to shoot at people, innocent or not.

At least one person was murdered and another 17 were wounded in weekend shootings across the Chicagoland area. The total number of victims is down slightly from the previous weekend, which saw at least one person killed with another 20 wounded.

Here’s a summary of what reportedly happened to the one man who died, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:

Tyshaun Manning, 21, was outside about 2:35 p.m. when someone walked up to him in the 1800 block of North Mobile Avenue and opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Manning, who lived in Galewood, was struck in the side and taken to the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead at 4:45 p.m., authorities said.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.

The total number of people shot on weekends in Chicago, which MRCTV has been keeping track of since the beginning of the year, is now up to at least 38 dead and another 174 wounded.

As for the overall number of shootings victims in Chicago, regardless of the day of the week, is now at 381 people for the year. The Chicago Tribune, whose shooting numbers are accurate as of March 10th, reported that the number of shootings in 2020 is 77 ahead of the pace compared to the same point in 2019. The gap has been slowly each week this year, but it has been going up nonetheless.

Even a pandemic can’t stop people from killing each in Chicago, as well as other cities around the country.
