In the lead up to the Iowa Caucus, the rhetoric flying back and forth between the various candidates and their opponents has become pretty heated. At times, the vitriol can spill down to the supporters of the candidates as well. If you’ve been following the process closely, the hurling of insults, often accompanied by vulgar language, is almost enough to make you lose your faith in the entire political process (assuming you haven’t already).
But one brave reporter, Kenny Wassus from IJ Review, decided to conduct an experiment to find out just how bad things have gotten. He traveled to a Bernie Sanders really in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, wearing a Donald Trump T-shirt and holding up a sign offering hugs to some of the thousands of Sanders enthusiasts that were leaving the event.
