VIDEO: NBA Player Who Tested Positive For Coronavirus Joked About Precautions Two Days Earlier

Whoever said ignorance is bliss never met Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert. Now, I’m not saying all of the mass hysteria over coronavirus is warranted, but there’s a difference between skepticism and ignorance.

The NBA suspended the 2019-2020 season after Gobert became the first player to test positive for the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. The former NBA Defensive Player of the Year is now making headlines for another reason, and it’s not a good look for the 7’1” center.

On Monday, two days prior to the positive test, Gobert made what now looks like a foolish move at the end of a press conference following the Jazz’s Monday shoot around.

There’s no words. Take a look:

Why do I hear the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” theme song after watching that clip?

However, according to ESPN, “Jazz players are privately saying that Gobert showed a cavalier attitude toward the virus with his teammates in the locker room, touching them and their belongings.”

That news came at the same time it was announced that the Jazz’s star guard Donovan Mitchell also tested positive for the virus.

While mass hysteria isn't the correct response to reasonably combat this virus, being a careless jerk about it clearly isn’t helping people either.
