A man in Florida attempted to abduct a 13-year-old right in front of the girl’s mother, who was not having it.

Craig Bonello, 30, can be seen on the Dollar General store’s security camera footage walking right up to the mother and daughter and grabbing the teenager.

To the mother’s credit, she chased after the man and can be seen grabbing her daughter’s other arm. The mother and Bonello began pulling the arms of the girl in opposite directions like a Stretch Armstrong.

The mother then probably did the smartest thing she could do in that instance: she laid down on top of her daughter so that Bonello couldn’t drag the girl any further.

As Bonello was walking out of the store, there just so happened to be an off-duty sheriff’s deputy walking in. The deputy blocked Bonello’s car so that he could not leave.

“In my 10 years on the road, I have never seen anything like this. He truly intended to abduct this child right in front of everyone in the store,” Sgt. Craig Callahan said in a statement.

The sheriff’s office said that despite not having a clear motive, Bonello will be charged with one count of kidnapping and child abuse.
