A female student at the University of New Hampshire completely lost it on a fellow student for wearing a poncho on campus in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.

She even recorded herself harassing the white male student for simply wearing the garment.

Keep in mind, he didn't do anything actually offensive, like sport a huge, colorful sombrero with mini-Coronas hanging from its edges, shake maracas as he walked about campus, or paint on a big, fake mustache to wear to class. He just wore a poncho.

“If you’re not Mexican, how is it your holiday?” the girl asked.

“It’s not my holiday,” said the guy.

“We’re just celebrating, O.K.?” said the guy’s friends in his defense.

“It’s not your holiday, sir!” she replied.

“Then what is our holiday?” they asked.

“That’s for you white people to figure out!" the female screamed at the top of her lungs. "I don’t f*king know!”

His friends even asked, “How’s a poncho Mexican?” News flash to the female who lost her mind, ponchos don't belong to Mexican culture. Other countries like Peru and Ecuador wear ponchos, too.

The guy wearing the poncho tried to speak with the female student and her posse but they continued to yell over him and his friends.

“I’d like to reason with them… Let me talk to them,” he told his friends.

After the rest of his friends walked away, the female student finally let the poncho guy speak.

“What’s the deal?” he asked.

“You’re perpetuating the stereotype that Mexicans drink and wear ponchos for a living,” she replied, “and you also have to keep in mind the racial tension that’s happening right now. Your president claims that Mexicans only come here [to] drink and steal your jobs.”

“I’m not perpetuating anything. I wore this last year before Donald was president,” he said.

Way to assume that because he’s white, he’s a Donald Trump supporter.

What’s so wrong with wearing a poncho on Cinco de Mayo? Yes, some people take it too far. Yes, we understand Cinco de Mayo isn't even recognized as a federal holiday in Mexico. But come on. He just wore a poncho. He wasn't mocking Mexican culture.

Cultural holidays should be an opportunity for open dialogue about culture, especially on college campuses where students are supposedly there to learn and grow. Apparently not for snowflakes who preach tolerance but take offense and bash others given the first opportunity to do so.
