Police and a suburban mom got into a lengthy conflict with a wild turkey that took a Honda Civic hostage.

"When I banged the pots and pans he came towards me. And I'll be honest, I got a little scared and I ran in the house," Betty Ann DiGiacomo of South Jersey told WPVI-TV, recounting her traumatic run-in with the obsessed turkey smitten with her son’s car.

When DiGiacomo left the house around 7:30am last Friday, she spotted the turkey circling the car, swooning over it – and threatening anyone who tried to get near his prize, including police, neighbors, and dogs.

"I named him Patrick - Patrick the love-struck turkey," DiGiacomo told WPVI-TV.

But, by 2pm, the magic was apparently gone. “Patrick” had had enough, so he sauntered off back into the woods, entrusting the car’s continued care to the DiGiacomo family.
