Vegan Cafe On Defense After Review Mentions Child Running Around Naked

A vegan cafe in Memphis is defending itself after a reviewer claimed the owners let their kids run around naked and allegedly even defecate on the floor.

According to WMCActionNews5.com, the controversy began when a customer left a two-star review of Imagine Vegan Cafe, claiming a “a bare butt naked baby was running around, stood up on a table with its black theyre [sic] so dirty feet, and bent over to show me it's butthole.”

While the original review did not mention anything about defecating on the floor, a headline by the Daily Mail asserts another comment reportedly stated children are allowed to “run around naked and defecate on the floor”:

According to WMC Action News 5, after they shared the story about the incident, Imagine Vegan Cafe deleted their posts about the incident and unpublished their Facebook page.

The post, as saved by WMC Action News, states the owners, Adam and Kristie Jeffrey, will begin to ban patrons who leave bad reviews and that they have “irritated mama bear”:

In the comments, the owners continued defending themselves by saying their children were being attacked:

Neither owner denied the incident with the diaper.

Adam told The Commercial Appeal, “We’re potty training her right now. We were in the back with her, and at the time, she had no clothes on, but just a diaper. Of course, she’s hitting that stage where she’s figured out that she can pull that diaper off, and it’s a fun game to take it off, throw it, and take off running. And so it was one of those moments where she did that, she ran out from. It was remedied very quickly, and that was part of the drama of the whole thing is that it was presented as if she’s just allowed to walk around and allowed to, you know, that’s not the case at all.”

Kristie told WMC Action News of the diaper-incident, “It was summer and it's hot. She does what a baby does, and she ripped it and she ran.”

“I would actually rather not have their business, because it states it very clearly on our menus--on our website--this is what we are about," she continued. "If you can't do vegan, then don't come here. If you can't do children, don't come here."
