U.S. Sen. Kirk: Obama 'Acting Like the Drug Dealer in Chief'

Some people don’t mince words when talking about President Obama. While speaking to an Illinois newspaper, Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) did not sugarcoat his feelings about the divider-in-chief.

Last week, Kirk spoke to The State Journal-Register, saying that sending $400 million to terror-sponsor Iran to free four U.S. prisoners made the president seem like he was “acting like the drug dealer in chief.”

According to the State Journal-Register:

We can’t have the president of the United States acting like the drug dealer in chief,” Kirk said, “giving clean packs of money to a ... state sponsor of terror. Those 500-euro notes will pop up across the Middle East. .... We’re going to see problems in multiple (countries) because of that money given to them.

The campaign spokesman for U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), the opponent for Kirk’s senate seat, came out in defense of Obama.

“Sen. Kirk's comments are misguided and deeply offensive, and beneath the dignity of the office he holds," spokesman Matt McGrath said in a statement to CNN. "He should apologize.”

I guess they want Kirk to head for a safe space where differing opinions are unwanted.

Kirk campaign manager Kevin Artl responded by not backing down to the criticism:

Sen. Kirk was referring to the administration's decision to send pallets of cash, not even US dollars, but euros and Swiss francs, in a clear ransom payment to Iran, the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism. The decision sets an awful and dangerous international standard that should be investigated and the lack of transparency from the administration clearly indicated they knew their actions were not above board.

The race for junior U.S. Senator from Illinois seems to be heating up.
