The U.S. Navy has announced that it has recovered the remains of all 10 sailors who were killed onboard the USS John S. McCain after a collision with a merchant vessel of the coasts of Singapore and Malaysia earlier this month.

"The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps divers have now recovered the remains of all 10 USS John S. McCain sailors," a statement on the Seventh Fleet's website read.

The guided-missile destroyer had collided last week with an oil tanker on its way to port, marking the fourth major incident within three months to involve a Navy ship and commercial vessel.

In addition to the recovery announcement, the statement also claimed that "The incident is under investigation to determine the facts and circumstances of the collusion."

The search included aircraft, divers, and vessels from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the U.S. and covered an area of around 2,124 square miles which circulated around the initial crash site.

Since the incident, the Navy has relieved the Seventh Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Joseph Aucoin from duty, stating "a loss of confidence in his ability to command" after the continued mishaps and critical accidents. In to replace Aucoin will be Rear Admiral Phil Sawyer.

The Navy will also be halting many global operations in order to focus on increasing safety measures.
