UPDATE: 10 Injured After Taxi Driver Crashes Into Pedestrians Near Boston Logan Airport

UPDATE 3:13 P.M. EST: 

At least 10 people were hurt with injuries "varying in severity" after a taxi driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle and plowed through a group of pedestrians near Boston Logan International Airport. 

"A police official said the crash is believed to be a case of 'operator error' in which the driver stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake," AP reports. "The person was not authorized to comment on the record and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity."

The crash is not believed to have been intentional. 

ORIGINAL STORY: 

Several people were injured on Monday after a taxi cab crashed into a group of pedestrians near Boston’s Logan International Airport.

According to CBS Boston, the crash occurred around 2 p.m. local time near the Logan Airport taxi pool.

Massachusetts State Police say there are multiple injuries “varying severity.”   

“Sources say a 57-year-old East Boston cab driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a break area where other drivers were gathered,” reports CBS News. “He's cooperating with investigators.

“Multiple law enforcement sources say the incident is being investigated as an accident, CBS News justice and homeland security correspondent Jeff Pegues reports. They confirm that there is no nexus to terrorism.”
