It appears that the leaders of this “church” haven’t read Jeremiah 1:5, or really anything from the Bible at all.

The United Church of Christ (UCC), a left-wing progressive denomination based in Cleveland, Ohio, recently passed a resolution that condemns the overturning of Roe v. Wade and declaring that abortion is healthcare.

The resolution titled, “Denouncing the Dobbs Decision and Proclaiming Abortion is Healthcare,” claims to affirm the “right of all people to access reproductive healthcare including contraception and abortion,” stating that “forced birth is an act of sexual violence and the choice to have and care for children is a sacred decision which should not be forced upon anyone.”

The resolution passed by a whopping 611 to 24.

The resolution not only criticized the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe and returned abortion regulations back to the states, but also “condemns all laws banning abortion or restricting access to reproductive health services.”

But perhaps even worse, the UCC suggested that abortion should be allowed up until the moment of birth, and even created a bail fund for “those UCC members who may be arrested for participation in civil disobedience or other acts of nonviolent Christian witness around reproductive justice,” the resolution reads.

The church’s resolution also demanded that the church's Pension board cover the cost of travel for staff members seeking abortions out of state, and declared that the church should be “sanctuary for those seeking abortions.”

The UCC is known as the most liberal and heretical out of all the mainline protestant denominations in the United States. Despite touting on their website that they have roots in the Reformed and Lutheran traditions, they certainly do not adhere to the core Scriptural values held by most other branches of the Christian faith.

The UCC was the first historical mainstream denomination to affirm same-sex marriage in 2005 and allow openly gay pastors. The denomination was also the first to switch from referring to God as “Heavenly Father” to “Triune God," affirming the belief that Jesus is not God but that God is like Jesus.

The UCC can pass whatever resolutions they like, but Jerermiah 1:5 still states, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart."
