July 11 was World Population Day. In it’s honor, the Woodrow Wilson Center collaborated with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to host an event on how abortion will help with the United States's growing population.

The July 12 Zoom focused on the 2022 UNFPA State of World Population’s launch of a report titled “Seeing the Unseen: The case for action in the neglected crisis of ‘unintended pregnancy” and was set up to deal with the effects and “draconian consequences” of the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

Abortion supposedly is “critical and lifesaving,” according to some of the panelists of the zoom. I guess the definition of those words is up for interpretation these days. Abortion is never critical and it doesn’t save lives … it ends them, nonetheless, the idea of abortion was clearly supported by each speaker at the event.

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra insisted that under the direction of President Joe Biden, the HHS will do anything and everything possible to ensure access to abortion and help with global family planning. Abortion is now a part of family planning I guess.

The idea of “unintended pregnancy” was stressed over and over and over throughout the 60 minute zoom and speakers suggested actions to help decrease the instance of unintended pregnancies by securing abortion “rights.”

Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) mentioned in her recorded statement that there are “121 million unintended pregnancies that occur every year” and that this “crisis will continue to have global repercussions.” She ended her sentiment by insisting that her work would help in “ensuring equality for all,” that is, all except innocent children in the womb.

The moderator read a statement from the report to clarify terminology for the remainder of the panel. “Unintended pregnancies are not the same as unwanted pregnancies and pregnant individuals are not the same as mothers. Not all individuals who become pregnant are women and girls. Transgender men and nonbinary people can and do become pregnant,” she said.

Yikes. We're supposed to take these people seriously?

UN Population Fund Chief Sarah Craven read part of the report that indicated “rates of unintended pregnancy tend to be lower in countries with more liberal abortion laws than those with more restrictive laws.” Craven implied that banning abortions would lead to more unintended pregnancies and said that we need to “look past” the baby and instead at the mother who didn’t “intend” to get pregnant.

Advisor of the report Gilda Sedga claimed that the U.S. and Nicaragua are the only countries that have adopted more “restricted” abortion laws this century and insisted that banning abortions will not stop them from happening but rather just stop them from being safe. She failed to mention that abortion in and of itself is not safe. It is the murder of an innocent child. Nothing about that is safe. Period. Segda also encouraged the idea of telemedicine and said that the direction the U.S. is moving is far from what evidence tells us and instead is “setting precedent over ideology.”

VP at the Women’s Refugee Commission Gayatri Patel made sure to let the audience know how vital abortion is. “Broad and purposeful attacks on gender equality and equity. This isn’t hyperbole. Without the right to decide if, when, and with whom to have children, women, girls, and others who are able to get pregnant,” (I think she means the trannies) “will face a myriad of regressions to their rights, to their well-being, to their safety, to their economic empowerment, to their meaningful participation in public life, to” bla bla bla. Basically she stated that without the right to abort, uterus holders will have everything good stripped from them.

It really is a shame for so many intelligent people to be saying such dumb things. Regardless of how a child ended up in a womb, unintended or not, pregnancy involves two people. Abortion is the intentional murder of an innocent child which should never be a solution to a pregnancy, intended or not.
