Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is blaming the “west” for the terrorist attacks on Charlie Hebdo last week, claiming that French authorities allowed the attacks to happen in order to make Muslims look bad.
Erodgan claimed that the west is ‘playing games with the Muslim world’ and warned fellow Muslims to beware.
“The West's hypocrisy is obvious. As Muslims, we've never taken part in terrorist massacres. Behind these lie racism, hate speech and Islamophobia,” Erdogan said.
Erdogan is not the only Turkish official floating conspiracy theories about the attacks. The Mayor of Ankara, blamed Israel for the attacks saying that he believed it to be a response to Turkeys movement towards recognizing and independent Palestinian state.
