Why? Why, damn it?! Why am I writing about Chicago having over a dozen shooting victims on a weekday? And oooooo, big surprise. No one in the national media cares.

On Tuesday, “at least” four people were killed, including a 17-year-old boy, and 12 others were wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area.

Here’s an example of the violence, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:

Travis P. Wilson, 27, was walking with a woman, 29, about 2:30 a.m. in the first block of East 74th Street when he was gunned down from behind, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Wilson, who lived in Princeton Park, was pronounced dead on the scene with several gunshot wounds to the body, authorities said. The woman was not injured.

“Gunned down from behind.” Cowards. It’s not enough that the murderer in this situation attacked someone with a gun, but they’re such a pile of human trash that they had to do it from behind, as if they didn’t already have the advantage.

As you may know, MRCTV has been tracking weekend shootings in the city of Chicago since Memorial Day weekend. An unfortunate 730 people have been shot on weekends since Memorial Day, 102 of which have died from their wounds.

Chicago also passed another dubious milestone recently. The city crossed the 2,000 victim count for shootings that have taken place in 2019. As reported on Monday, the Chicago Tribune’s count of shooting victims is at 1,998, but that number is as of September 17th. With the shootings that have happened since, the number is now clearly over 2,000.

Two-thousand people in almost nine months! Hello?! I don’t care if the numbers are slightly down from 2018. Is anybody paying attention?
