"If anyone is looking for a good lawyer, I would strongly suggest that you don’t retain the services of Michael Cohen!" President Donald Trump tweeted Wednesday morning.
About an hour later Trump went to twitter again, “Michael Cohen plead guilty to two counts of campaign finance violations that are not a crime. President Obama had a big campaign finance violation and it was easily settled!”
As of mid-morning Wednesday, these are the only comments President Trump has made regarding his ex-attorney Michael Cohen.
Cohen made a plea deal with prosecutors Tuesday in which he admitted to “violating federal campaign finance laws” and pled guilty to five counts of tax evasion, one count of making a false statement to a financial institution, one count of willfully causing an unlawful corporate contribution, and one count of making an excessive campaign contribution.
According to Forbes, as part of the plea agreement “Cohen must file amended tax returns with the IRS. He has also agreed to pay restitution, including back taxes, penalty, and interest. The amount of past taxes due currently stands at $1,495,305.”
The man who didn’t pay over a million in taxes, is now looking for donations. Cohen’s lawyer has launched a GoFundMe account “to pay his legal fees.”
