During a rally in Rhode Island ahead of the state’s primary on Tuesday, Donald Trump slammed his GOP rivals Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for joining forces to deny him the Republican presidential nomination.

“You know, it’s collusion,” said Trump.

“If you collude in business, or if you collude in the stock market, they put you in jail. But in politics, because it’s a rigged system – because it’s a corrupt enterprise – in politics, you’re allowed to collude,” he said.

Cruz and Kasich announced on Monday that they are joining forces in a last-ditch effort to deny Trump the 1,237 delegates he needs to clinch the party's nomination.

In a divide-and-conquer fashion, Cruz will be focusing on winning Indiana May 3 while Kasich will be campaigning in Oregon and New Mexico ahead of the states' primaries on May 17 and June 7, respectively.

Trump said at the Monday rally that he feels "happy" that his two remaining opponents are working together because it makes them look "weak" and "pathetic."

“And so they colluded. And actually, I was happy, because it shows how weak they are. It shows how pathetic they are," he fired.
