At a conference outside the White House Friday afternoon, President Trump said he may build a border wall without Congressional approval.

“Have you considered using emergency powers to build this wall without congressional approval?”a reporter asked the president.

“Yes, I have,” President Trump replied.

“And I can do it if I want.”

“So you don’t need congressional approval to build the wall?” the reporter asked.

“Absolutely, we can call a national emergency because of the security of our country, absolutely. We can do it. I haven’t done it. I may do it, Trump responded.

“We can call a national emergency and build it very quickly. It’s another way of doing it. But if we can do it through a negotiated process, we’re giving that a shot,” he said.

Asked if that was threat to Democrats Trump responded, “I never threaten anybody.”
