At a veterans’ event in Herndon, Va., on Monday, Donald Trump criticized President Obama and Hillary Clinton for publicizing their plans to fight ISIS.
Trump argued that sharing our plans – as in, how many troops will be deployed, where they will be deployed to, and so on – gives "strength to the enemy.”
“I do think this: The American public don’t need to know the date and hour and what side we’re going to attack,” he said. “They just want to see victory.”
He called “the element of surprise” one of “the great principles” of war.
On Clinton’s pledge not to commit American ground troops in the war against terrorism, Trump said, “She should never admit that.”
“When Hillary Clinton says no boots on the ground … whether you want boots on the ground or not, you shouldn’t say it,” he said. “By doing that, she has empowered the enemy.”
“You have to leave all your options open, and if you don’t leave your options open, you’re a fool,” Trump fired.
The Republican presidential candidate has faced criticism for refusing to share his secret plan to fight ISIS.
When asked to discuss his plan, Trump replied, “Their days will be numbered.”
