President Trump at a Florida rally on Tuesday called for stricter voter identification laws.

Trump said that Americans need to use their I.D.’s to make purchases like groceries, so it would only make sense that they would need their I.D.’s to vote.

“We believe that only American citizens should vote in American elections,” said Trump. “Which is why the time has come for voter I.D., like everything else.”

“You know, if you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card, you need I.D.. You go out and you want to buy anything, you need I.D. and you need your picture. In this country, the only time you don’t need it in many cases is when you want to vote for a president, when you want to vote for a senator, when you want to vote for a governor… It’s crazy. But we’re turning it around.”

This is not the first time Trump has called for called for new voter identification laws

Trump has claimed that voter fraud was an issue in the 2016 presidential election and has called for voter I.D. as a way to prevent any potential fraud in future elections.

His remarks come as the city of Boston weighs giving non-citizens voting rights, as MRCTV reported.

The President was in Tampa Tuesday night campaigning for Florida Gov. Rick Scott, who is running for the U.S. Senate, and Rep. Ron DeSantis, who is running for governor.
