Just last week, violent riots ravaged Charlotte, N.C., similar to those that took place in Ferguson, Mo., in 2014.

A man set off bombs in New York and New Jersey less than two weeks ago.

Crime rates in cities like Detroit, Mich., and Chicago, Ill., remain high.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said during the presidential debate in Hempstead, N.Y., Monday night that America needs “law and order” to "stop the violence" in the country.

“We have to stop the violence,” said Trump. “We have to bring back law and order.”

“In a place like Chicago, where thousands of people have been killed,” he went on. “In fact, almost 4,000 people have been killed since Barack Obama became President.”
