Barbed wire fences are being placed near the U.S.-Mexico border in McAllen, Texas as the migrant caravan continues to push north towards the U.S.

The barbed wire is part of President Donald Trump's order to send thousands of active duty troops to parts of Texas, Arizona, and California to secure the border. Roughly 1,000 feet of barbed wire fencing is expected to be set up near the Rio Grande river.

President Trump, at a campaign rally in Montana late last week, said, "barbed wire, used properly, can be a beautiful sight."

Trump says many people in the multiple caravans streaming towards the U.S. border are likely criminals.

“They’ll say ‘do you have proof?’ - yeah, I have proof,” Trump said Saturday. “They threw stones in the polices’ face, they hurt Mexican police, they hurt Mexican military very badly, they broke through –you saw it, it was on television.”
