President Donald Trump delivered his first address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.

Trump sought to deliver a message of “unity” to members of Congress and Americans watching at home.

He began by condemning recent acts of vandalism on Jewish cemeteries and said that “while we may be a nation divided on policies, we are a country that stands united in condemning hate and evil in all of its very ugly forms.”

Trump described his presidency as the result of a quiet “rebellion” that became as loud as an “earthquake,” demanding that “America must put its own citizens first.”

“America must put its own citizens first,” he said, “because only then can we truly make America great again.”

Trump touched on his agenda, including an emphasis on a strong military, border security, and infrastructure.

He said that under his administration, the nation’s allies “will find that America is once again ready to lead.”

“What we are witnessing today is the renewal of the American spirit,” said Trump. “Our allies will find that America is once again ready to lead. All the nations of the world, friend or foe, will find that America is strong, America is proud, and America is free.”

He later vowed to keep his promises to the American people and laid out what progress he has made since his inauguration just over one month ago, including his executive orders on immigration enforcement and cutting regulations.
