President Trump on Thursday addressed the nation after the Senate voted to acquit him on both articles of impeachment against him.

Trump called the Democrats’ efforts “a disgrace” and added that if he had not fired “dirty cop” former FBI director James Comey, “it’s possible I wouldn’t even be standing here right now.”

“If this had happened to President Obama, a lot of people would be in jail already – many, many years,” said Trump.

"It was leakers and liars," he said, "and this should never happen to another president."

The President went on to call his remarks "a celebration":

“This is not a speech… It’s a celebration, because we have something that just worked out," said Trump. "I mean, we went through hell, unfairly. Did nothing wrong.”

“I’ve done things wrong in my life, I will admit,” he said, laughing. “But this is what the end result is,” drawing applause.
